Another Spring work day success

Sunny skies and warm weather greeted our enthusiastic volunteers this weekend.

It was fun to have so many kids getting their hands dirty and learning new skills in the garden and for all of us to hang with friends and make new connections.

We had a productive few hours weeding the beds in our own Hawks’ Garden, and also out in the Native Habitat Garden along the walking path. The wet winter weather has been great for boosting new growth this Spring!

At the same time, other volunteers weeded the cement planters behind 5th grade. In May, we are lucky to welcome three 5th grade Girl Scout troops donate their time and money to help with a beautification collaboration and leave an ongoing legacy for their time at Neil Cummins. Thank you to Aimee Durbin for organizing this wonderful project!

Now we’re also ready for next week’s Plant Sale at the Spring Social - we finished re-potting the thriving seedlings that the kids planted during Seed Planting Day back in March.

Don’t forget! Visit the garden during the Spring Social and Plant Sale on Friday May 12, 3pm - 4.30pm to buy your own student-grown plant.

All money raised at the plant sale will go directly back in to funding more projects in the garden.

Thanks to everyone who came out to work and have fun socializing!
